ENCOURGEMENT

Once we accept Christ, we are often elated, a season of new joy and peace unlike anything we have ever felt.

Sins washed away, covered in the blood of the Lamb, old things made new, the broken now mended, and what a blessed state to be in.

Unfortunately, at some point, life sets in and the often the enemy will attack whispering his lies that if you were really saved things would be easier and that if God really loved you that you would not have to experience whatever difficulty that you are facing.

Number one: The devil is an absolute liar, all he can do is lie, any negative thought that comes into your mind concerning your salvation or rather the lack thereof is complements of him and that should give you assurance in knowing whatever that thought is, the opposite is true.

Let’s hear what Jesus had to say concerning him:

…He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode (lived) not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.” JOHN 8:44

Number two.: No one was just dropped to earth as a mature Christian, the only perfect person was Jesus, and we are not expected to be perfect.

We are going to make mistakes, mess up, and have good days and bad days, but as we grow in Christ the good can certainly outweigh the bad. We must learn to live out our faith one day at a time and if we mess up, ask forgiveness, accept forgiveness, and go on.

Don’t wallow in self-righteousness by saying oh I messed up too bad, that is absolute self-righteousness. If a person owed a three-thousand-dollar debt and suddenly the lender said that they would just write it off, the person owing it would jump and do cartwheels, they wouldn’t try to talk the lender out of cancelling their debt, this is the same thing.

Backslide and God says repent and come back the slate is wiped completely clean, and some people want to punish themselves by saying “Oh I have done too much I don’t deserve forgiveness” and reject salvation. no one deserves it, that is why it is called grace. Jesus gave his life so that we could have it.

He’s offering hope, peace, and eternal salvation from hell, I think I’d take him up on it.

Fall off the boat, get up the next day and get back on the boat and keep getting back on until you learn to stay afloat.

“This, I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope.

It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed (destroyed) because his compassions fail not.

They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.” Lamentations 3:21-23

Number three: We have to allow ourselves to grow in God, we are born natural and then become spiritual and that is a process, and we have to allow that process.

“And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.

Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual.” 1 CORINTHIANS 15:45,46

We have to realize that we are natural, worldly, sin prone before we are spiritual and to think we can be otherwise or that we were born spiritual is like saying that we could walk before we were even born.

That means we must grow and not beat ourselves up over every single little thing or listen to crazy people trying to tell us what we should and shouldn’t do, that is what breaks the spiritual backs of new Christians.

The only one anyone has to listen is Jesus, study his Word, no one is expected to just know everything, it would be a ridiculous thought. We grow little by little and are designed to enjoy salvation.

“As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby.” 1 PETER 2:2

Listening to God is to listen to your heart, a thought of a scripture, a little nudge of something you should do, always heed that, if a scripture comes to mind or even a portion, read it, you can web search just even a few words and follow those words with KJV in your search, these little ways are how we are lead and how we grow Don’t quit and don’t give up until you make it home.
