Mountains & Myrrh

Author Information

Hello, I am Nina, pronounced NYNE-UH, I’ll get that out of the way as the pronunciation of my name or rather mispronunciation of my name has often been a source of great angst.

Not that anyone needs to know how to pronounce my name to read my posts, but I am probably one of the few who have had strangers argue me over the pronunciation of my own name!

I actually prefer Chicky, there is no question about the pronunciation of it.

That is what my best friend calls me; I call her Chiquita and those are the moments that make life good.

I am your basic human, a wife, mother, daughter, sister, Cyber-Evangelist but most importantly a child of the King!

Like many, I did not grow up in church and only came to Jesus after my life had crashed in around me and He, in his mercy and grace picked me up from the ashes and through his forgiveness, salvation, and love redeemed me, restored me, and gave me a beautiful new beginning.

Then He called me into ministry to share that hope with others.

God is not looking for perfect people, no one is perfect, the only perfect person to ever walk earth was Jesus Christ.

God wants to help us right where we are, in our pain, in our fear, in our hurt.

Our anger, temptations, times of feeling overwhelmed and times of self-doubt, and confusion.

In our human state and that is exactly why he has given us his blessed Word, an instruction guide for any and every condition or circumstance possible in human existence.

His Word, with not only the answers to our problems, but hope and encourage that through it all, in him, and by him, and in the covering of his blood, he will allow us to overcome it all.

He wants to heal our souls, our emotional wounds, and give us his peace for a new life going forward.

For the past twelve years, I have written posts on a variety of topics, domestic abuse, overcoming fear, end times, and virtually any other subject that we often have questions about concerning the Word of God, especially in our modern world.

As all things in life must evolve and progress in order to grow, I felt impressed to combine my sites, Φλογιζω Phlogizo, Alabaster Breaking, and most recently Sword & Lily into one easily accessible site with new content, scriptures and thoughts tailored to those changes we face as life brings new challenges with each passing year and with every stroke of the clock.

Spiritual mountains that we must climb and the myrrh which represents dying to our own thoughts and our flesh and allowing and trusting God in all things that he will be there every step of the way.

A dance through the lowest of valleys which ultimately lead us over the rough hills, and treacherous terrain until we find that once again, the Lord has allowed us to arrive safely on yet another spiritual mountaintop.

Where we can humbly thank Him and look back over our path and ponder all that we have learned along the way and taking what we have learned and sharing with another to help them climb the mountains in their own spiritual life.

I do not claim to know anything, but I do know the one who knows everything.

Some posts deal with everyday life, some sorrow and grief, some deal with world events around us, some deal with those events as it plays into end time events.

Sometimes we may be silly, sometimes serious, but with this being the compilation of my ministry work, it can be all over the place, because as humans, we are all over the place.

Instead of having multiple blogs, defined by genre it will all be combined here, so some posts may be encouragement, some may be teaching, some may be end-time judgements, some may be political thoughts, (only when laws are becoming contrary to God’s laws and events pertain to Biblical prophecies), but it will all be in one place now.

We have emotions, feelings, thoughts, and sometimes attitudes but that is exactly what makes us real, and God wants us to be real.

If you read older posts, I do hope that you will, please always note the publish date.

These posts span over a twelve-year period and many deal with the dangers of political systems in place at various times that were and are in absolute contradiction with Jehovah God.

They do offer us a road map as we can literally read the progression of wickedness in our generation and offer us insight concerning thoughts and societal attitudes that we need to be aware of as we hold on to our faith and the promise of eternal life.

God’s word does not change, the world constantly changes but he and his word are eternal, and we must always follow his true teachings.

HEBREWS 13:8: “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.”

It is my sincerest prayer that you will find, even in some small way, encouragement, hope, and peace for your day!

Thank you for sharing your day with me!

Yours in Christ, Nina

On my journey…

My Mission Statement

Share the love and mercy of Jesus Christ through his word with the world and all who are hurting, discouraged and disillusioned by the emptiness the world has offered by reminding us of all of his promises.

I want to start us out with the verse that I hope to be our theme throughout our journey.

“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28
